1. How old were you when you started playing soccer?

G. Naburn: 14 years old

2. How did you get involved with soccer?
G. Naburn: School and friends

3. What positions have you played?

G. Naburn: Midfield

4. Which position is your most favorite and least favorite? And why?

G. Naburn: I really enjoy playing center midfield. You are pretty much always in play with the ball… Offense and Defense. I’d probably say sweeper/center defender would be my least favorite because you are the second to last defender after the goalie, and after one simple mistake, you could cost the game.

5. How would you describe your experience on the national team?

G. Naburn: Its been a real challenge mentally and physically. However, all in all, I am enjoying this experience (my debut appearance) on this national team.

6. What would you like to share with all the other female soccer athletes about playing soccer for the national team?

G. Naburn: Its tough!!! If you really love the game, enjoy playing soccer, you would join the program.

7. What is the best part about training?

G. Naburn: I would honestly say waterbreaks after a long hard workout. Kidding… haha. I think the scrimmages with the Under 16 boys’ national team would be the best about training.

8. What is the hardest part about training?

G. Naburn: Duh!!! Conditioning (especially when he is mad!!) right coach?!

9. If you were to do it all over again, would you?

G. Naburn: Of course.

10. What tips or secret ingredient would you give to others that desire to be on the national team?

G. Naburn: Like I said, its all for the love of the game. Work hard, stay focused and have the heart to want to play. You’d be surprise of the outcome of your performance.

11. If you were a spokesperson for Guam Football Association Women’s Football and you need to give a speech to inspire your fellow female athletes, what would you say to promote soccer?

G. Naburn:Soccer on Guam has grown (for women) and in order to keep it going, we must support each other and continue to keep playing. Encourage everyone starting with the young ones.

12. What is your fondest memory of playing soccer?

G. Naburn: Most of my teammates from Simon Sanchez 2004 would say the day we won the championship. I’d have to say the road we traveled to win the game that day would be the fondest.

13. What has been your biggest disappointment in football?

G. Naburn: Not being able to participate in past tournament for the women’s national team would be my biggest regret.

14. What is your favorite type of music?

G. Naburn: Living on an island all my life, I could listen to island/reggae music forever.

15. Favorite book?

G. Naburn: Lance Armstrong’s “It’s not about the bike, my journey back to life”

16. Your favorite film?

G. Naburn: I honestly don’t know

17. Your favorite city?

G. Naburn: Waikiki

18. Favorite hobby?

G. Naburn: Spending time with my family and friends and of course, sleeping

19.  Who has been the most influential figure to you?

G. Naburn: I don’t just have one. I mean my family and friends have always been there to support me.

20. What is your main strength?

G. Naburn: What would you say? My optimism and my patience.

21. What qualities do you appreciate?

G. Naburn: Honesty, teamwork and encouragement

22. What are you afraid of?

G. Naburn: Life, not knowing where I’m headed. Oh, and Coach Kim (kidding).

23. Who would you most like to meet?

G. Naburn: My children, all five of them..

24. Where do you see yourself in 3 years in regards to soccer?

G. Naburn: Hopefully continuing on being on this national team and playing for Guam Shipyard.

25. What are your goals/ambitions?

G. Naburn: To go back to school and finish when that’s done, everything else would just easily go through, even with soccer.
